Duke Close To Offering In-State WR

Mario Washington impressed many onlookers at Duke's one-day camp, now an offer may be coming.

Mario Washington is a playmaker for Crest High School in Shelby, N.C. as he showed at several camps over the summer. Thanks to that effort, Washington feels comfortable with where he sits in his recruiting.

"Recruiting is going good right now," said the 5-foot-11, 175-pounder. "I'm hearing from Duke, NC State, I got a letter from Clemson today, Elon, Ohio, and there are a couple other ones too. They are telling me to take the SAT, keep my grades up, that kind of thing."

Mario Washington believes one school is close to offering a scholarship right now.

"Duke is talking to me about a scholarship. They just told me to keep things straight, and I should be good to go. I'm taking the SAT this Saturday. I've been going to some games for some visits, like I've been to Duke, NC State, (North) Carolina."

Washington received another honor recently as he was named to the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.

"It means a lot. It is a once in a lifetime thing, so I'm glad that I made it."
