N.C. Central's Drew Johnson tossed in a game-high 21 points.
Duke took the lead for good at the 15:59 mark of the opening stanza when Scheyer's three-point bucket snapped a 6-6 deadlock. The three-pointer jumpstarted a 16-2 run as the Blue Devils pushed the lead to 22-8 on a jumper by Jamal Boykin with 12:10 remaining in the half. Duke led 47-31 at intermission as Nelson and McRoberts combined for 19 points.
McRoberts was four-of-eight from the floor and five-of-six from the foul line and added a game-best nine rebounds. Scheyer made three-of-six three-point attempts and all five of his free throws and added a team-high three assists. Zoubek, who was six-of-eight from the floor, came off the bench to contribute five rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots.
For the Eagles, Jason Hervey joined Johnson in double figures with 12 points while Steve Randolph dished out a game-high five assists. Warren Roberson chipped in eight points, eight rebounds and three assists in a reserve role.
The Blue Devils open regular season play on Sunday, November 12 by hosting Columbia in the first round of the CBE Classic. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. and the game will be televised by ESPNU.
