3 Star DL Hatcher Is a Blue Devil

Sometimes things don't go as planned in the recruiting world. That is certainly the case for three star defensive lineman Charlie Hatcher, who was sure he would not be verbally committing to Duke this weekend. But....

"I actually did end up committing to Duke over the weekend," said Hamilton (Ohio) High defensive tackle Charlie Hatcher. "I had a chance to really see the whole package - the academics, the social life, all of it. So I committed before I left."

Hatcher, measures out at 6'4 and 250 pounds, is ranked as the nation's number 69 defensive lineman, and a three star prospect according to Scout.com. He chose Duke over offers from Maryland, Minnesota, Clemson, and Vanderbilt, and was being seriously considered by Michigan State.

Hosted by former four star prospect Brandon King, Hatcher adds that he is set on his decision - something that really pleased his future head coach.

"Coach Roof was really excited when I told him. They have been recruiting really well for the last few seasons, especially on the defensive side of the ball. I think that will begin to show up on the field soon."

In regards to his role, Hatcher had that question answered by recruiting coach John Strollo.

"I am going to play defensive end. Duke plays a 3-4 scheme, so I'll start out there. Depending on how if I add any weight, I could move into the middle as well."

As a junior, Hatcher racked up 62 tackles and nine sacks earning All-Southern Ohio honors for his efforts.
