Patterson Draws A Crowd In Season Opener

With three prospects already having their National Letters of Intent signed, the Blue Devils are focusing all their efforts on Huntington (W.Va) prospect Patrick Patterson. The five star power forward opened his season last night with Mike Krzyzewski in attendance.

Patrick Patterson, who continues to consider schools such as Duke, Florida, Kentucky, Wake Forest, and West Virginia, scored 22 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and blocked a team best six shots as Huntington High rolled over Nitro High 94-46.

Krzyzewski wasn't the only coach in attendance either. In fact it was a crowd of high majors in bleachers as Coach K was joined by Florida's Billy Donnavan, Kentucky's Tubby Smith, and West Virginia's John Beilein.

Patterson will visit Duke unofficially later this season when he watch the Blue Devils face the Boston College Eagles in Cameron Indoor. During the weekend he will also be playing in the College Basketball Hall of Fame event that is being held in Cameron Indoor.

Patterson remains a five star prospect, and is considered the No. 11 overall player by Scout.com. No other player in the top 40 remains uncommitted.

The three Duke commitments are all considered among the nation's top 40. Taylor King is rated No. 36, Nolan Smith No. 31, and Kyle Singler is rated as the No. 4 overall player in the country.
