Jon Scheyer was named the ACC's Rookie of the Week according to the league office

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Duke's Jon Scheyer was named the ACC Rookie of the Week for the period ending Dec. 25, announced by the conference office Tuesday.

In earning the league's rookie award for the first time this season, Scheyer averaged 15.5 points and 3.5 rebounds in two Blue Devil victories. The Northbrook, Ill., freshman scored 17 points and pulled down three rebounds in Monday's 79-72 win over Kent State. Two nights later, Scheyer tallied 14 points and pulled down four rebounds in a 61-54 victory over 22nd-ranked Gonzaga.

Scheyer's honor is Duke's first Rookie of the Week honor since Greg Paulus won it on Dec. 19, 2005. Paulus won it twice last season. Duke's last ACC weekly honor was Feb. 27, 2006, when Shelden Williams was named the ACC Player of the Week.
