Randez James Picks Duke

Randez James made his collegiate decision public on Thursday afternoon, selecting Duke

As the class of 2007 begins to run short on space, the Blue Devil coaching staff has made targets aware that it's a first come first serve situation. That message wasn't lost on Judson (Tex.) standout Randez James, who made his decision public on Thursday afternoon.

"I've committed to Duke and head coach Ted Roof," said James via phone. "I had always said I wanted to commit on the 28th in honor of my mother, and that is what happened."

James, a 5-foot-10 178 pound defensive back with a 4.39 recorded time in the forty, visited Duke on December 2nd and then Tulsa on the following weekend. However it was clear soon after that the Blue Devils would be hard to unseat.

"Duke's visit really put them over in my mind. I mean it was just great all around. I am really relieved to have my future plans set now. Coach Roof was really excited about it, and so am I. I think my mom would be proud -- she wanted me to get the best education I could, and so I am."

James chose Duke over offers from Arizona, Purdue, and Tulsa.
