Texas Safety Commits To Duke

Just when it seemed that Duke had put the finishing touches on the recruiting class of 2007, the Blue Devils have picked up another commitment. This time it's McKinney (Tex) High standout Eddie Morgan.

Originally committed to Stanford despite offers from Air Force, Texas Christian and Duke, Eddie Morgan found out that he was unable to gain admission to Palo Alto, leaving him with little time to make a decision regarding his future.

With that in mind the 6-foot-1, 180 pound safety selected Duke's standing offer over those from the Horned Frogs and Falcons. Schools such as Navy and North Texas also were considered after learning of Morgan's availability.

"I've been through a lot, but you just have to roll with it," Morgan told Brent Yarina of The McKinney News. "Things happen for a reason and with one door closing, another one has opened."

Clocking in with a 4.5 time in the forty yard dash, Morgan is rated as a two star prospect according to Scout.com.

During his senior season, Morgan started at both safety and running back for the Lions - leading his team with a combined 18 touchdowns.
