Texas OL On the Radar In 2008

One of the best prospects on one of the Lone Star state's best teams was among those players invited to the annual Duke junior day earlier this month. After taking in the Blue Devil program, Jake Jackson has Duke among his early leaders.

"The visit to Duke was really good," said Jake Jackson. "My trip there was the first time I'd seen an east coast school, and it was better than I expected. The campus, the facilities, and the coaches were all great."

As a starting guard on 5A powerhouse Southlake Carroll High, Jackson has no shortage of high major interest early on in the process as 17 year old linemen who measure in at 6'5, 275 pounds with a 5.0 time in the forty are always in high demand.

"Right now I'm hearing from a lot of schools. I'd say the ones talking to me the most are Duke, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma , LSU, and Arkansas. All of them have asked me for tape and other information. I think more will be coming."

Recruited by assistant coach Scott Brown, Jackson says he's in no rush to make a decision, but would like to have a decision before the start of his senior season if at all possible.

"That would be great, if it happens. We are hoping to win another state championship, and I'd like to be able to concentrate fully on that."

During the 2006 season Jackson was able to visit Oklahoma and Oklahoma State on unofifical visits.
