Assistant Coach Bill O'Brien Leaves Duke

The Blue Devils' offensive coordinator and quarterback coach has left Duke for a NFL coaching job.

The New England Patriots have named Bill O'Brien as an offensive assistant coach on Head Coach Bill Belichick's staff. O'Brien served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Duke University for the last two seasons.

O'Brien, who came to Duke after spending the previous two seasons on the staff at Maryland, where he coached the running backs and helped the Terrapins to a 15-9 overall record and a Gator Bowl victory over West Virginia in 2003.

No further announcement regarding a replacement has been made.
