Asack On Campus This Weekend

Westwood, Mass., is home to one of the most talented kickers on the East coast in Paul Asack and the family connection with Duke University is definitely a pull for the youngest brother. We caught up with Asack to see what's on the agenda this week.

Paul Asack isn't what you'd typically expect in a kicker at 6-foot-2, 200-pounds. The Westwood, Mass., product also plays linebacker for Xaverian Brothers High School and will lay the wood on any return specialist that makes it to him. Asack is currently on a visit to Duke, the lone school that has offered him, and plans to be spending over half the week on campus.

"We're already down here right now and will be staying for the rest of the week," Asack explained. "I'm going to meet with the coaching staff on Friday and then will attend the spring game on Saturday. Duke is recruiting me as a kicker and athlete and is my only offer right now."

The fact that Duke is Asack's only offer probably isn't much of an issue in the kicker's mind frankly as his father attended the university and his brother Zack is currently a quarterback for the Blue Devils.

"The fact that both my father and brother are Duke guys definitely makes them much more attractive to me then other schools," Asack explained. "Obviously there is a comfort level you have knowing the program already and that helps in recruiting. Duke was also my first offer which is a plus."

Asack is one of the most talented kickers in the Northeast according to both and Chris Sailer, a nationally renowned special team's expert. "Paul is a tremendously talented kicker. He is a great looking athlete with endless potential. Paul has a huge leg, gets great lift on his ball, and can kickoff with the best of them. Look for big things from Paul over the next year."
