Seven Offers and No Favorites For Sampson

North Mequite High School produces good football players. One of the school's top offerings for the 2008 signing class is wide out Lanear Sampson. Seven schools have already come through with an offer and Sampson is waiting for more.

"I have seven offers now," said Lanear. "Duke, Rice, North Texas, Nebraska, Wisonsin, Arizona and Colorado State have all offered. I think Utah may be close to offering. I am going over to Oklahoma on the 7th and Oklahoma State on the 21st to see what they have to say."

Sampson expects even more schools to come through with an offer this spring. More schools than Lanear could remember have been by to see the 6-0, 191 pounder in action this spring.

"There have been a whole lot of schools that have come by practice," said Sampson. "All of the schools that have offered me have called me and Utah has too."

Due to the large number of schools that are recruiting Lanear, he has not had the time to really put together a pecking order.

"I don't have any favorites right now," said Lanear. "I am going to start narrowing things down as it gets close to the end of the summer. I would like to to that before our first game."

In the meantime, Sampson and his teammates are working to improve this spring as well as learn a new offensive system.

"Our team is getting better," said Sampson. "We have a new coaching staff, so we are all trying to get used to that. So far things look pretty good. We are just going to be the best we can be and see if we can't win district this year."
