Devils Land Florida Runningback

Jacksonville (Fla.) Trinity Christian standout running back Montel Harris is one of two very good runners at his school this year and on Friday, Harris ended the recruiting process by making a college decision.

Montel Harris is part of an excellent one-two punch at running back, joining Jamie Harper. And on Friday, Harris made his college decision.

"Montel called Coach Danny Pearman to inform him he was ready to become a Blue Devil," his father said of his son's commitment to Duke. "Upon telling Coach Pearman, he also called the head coach, Ted Roof, to inform him as well."

Harris, 5-foot-9 and 196 pounds, put his name on the recruiting map when he ran for over 1,200 yards as a sophomore. He followed up with a 1,200-yard junior season. He's well-built with good speed and can get yards in between the tackles and also has the ability to hit the home run ball.

Duke was the first school to offer Harris earlier this spring and while he picked up other offers, the Blue Devils did a tremendous job of recruiting him from day one.
