Sands Adds Another High Major Offer

Boyertown, Pa., lineman Tyler Sands continues to pick up offers from schools around the country and was extended his 18th today by Wisconsin. A number of other schools have recently stepped up their interest in Sands and could be offering soon as well.

At 6-foot-5, 285 pounds, Boyertown Area High School offensive tackle Tyler Sands could end up playing on the interior line depending on which school he eventually chooses. The latest school to offer today was Wisconsin and given their reputation for having mammoth offensive tackles, Sands would not fit the profile on the outside.

"Wisconsin showed up at my school today completely out of the blue which was pretty exciting," Sands explained. "The running backs coach (John Settle) was a really nice guy in the short time we had to speak and told me he'd really like me to come up to Madison and experience what they had to offer there. That is a pretty long trip, so I doubt I will be taking a visit for camp, but I may take one of my five officials there."

"He didn't come right out and say it, but from the sound of things they are interested in me playing either offensive guard or center," Sands added. "I pull a lot and am pretty mobile and other schools have expressed the same interest, so I have absolutely no problem changing positions to wherever a coaching staff needs me. Wisconsin obviously has a tradition of excellent offensive linemen like Joe Thomas and prides itself on running the ball. I have heard the campus there is very nice and in the research I've done on my own time I've been very impressed with what I have found."

"Tennessee and Georgia have still been in contact and I am supposed to talk to either the offensive line coach or head coach at Tennessee this week," Sands said. "I am going to take visits to Vanderbilt and Georgia on June 14th and 15th. Rutgers was also in school today and said they were very impressed with my film and would be in contact with me. I've been there twice and liked the facilities and campus. The facts that the school is so close to home and that they've had such great recent success are obviously appealing."

Sands now holds offers from Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Army, Boston College, Delaware, Villanova, Illinois, Akron, Duke, Navy, Nebraska, Temple, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Maryland and Connecticut.
