Zielinski Ready To Camp With Duke

The Zielinski family has never been afraid to travel, so when we recently caught up with the York, Pa., native expectations were to learn of new visits about to happen or past visits experienced. As usual, there was plenty of activity to report.

This is the last week of school for York Catholic High School and while most students will be enjoying a leisurely week beside a pool or at the shore, 6-foot-8, 320-pound offensive tackle Zach Zielinski will be driving to North Carolina to spend a day working with the Duke coaching staff.

"I'm leaving straight from school on Friday to go down and camp at Duke so I can work with Coach (John) Strollo and show the entire staff what I can do," Zielinski said. "I have been to Duke and seen what needed to be seen, this weekend is time to take care of business."

The list of suitors for Zielinski is long and frankly, a bit confusing as he has interested parties all over the country, but his most recent contact has been with UNLV, North Carolina State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Duke and Maryland. He has put together a tentative list of camps he will be attending this summer and will add more as it progresses.

"I will be camping at Notre Dame and then I'll be at West Virginia the following day where I will participate in their three-day camp," Zielinski explained. "Coach (Bill) Kirelawich was at my school and invited me down, so I will be able to show them what I can do and then do all of the normal visit stuff. After that I think I may be attending camp at Villanova and Boston College just to showcase myself."

At a combine in May of 2007, Zielinski did 18 repetitions of 185 pounds on the bench press and had a vertical jump of 21 inches.
