"I played horrible today," Czyz said of his 7 point, 4 rebound performance, a double-digit losing cause to an inferior team that simply played good team ball. "We were up by four points but later we just got tired. I missed a lot of layups and I allowed a lot of layups. I did not play good defense. I made a lot of mistakes. I was not patient. I was rushing things."
Olek, who is called "O-lee" by his teammates concluded, "They started making their outside shots and we just couldn't get it together tonight."
Though most coaches are recruiting him as a power forward, Czyz sees himself as a player that swings between that position and the small forward position in college, "I have been working a great deal on my outside shooting but I really haven't had the opportunity to show that skill off yet. My team needs me to work inside and rebound and score down low, so that is what I will do. But I do see myself playing some small forward as well."
"I have received a lot of offers," Czyz said, I feel fortunate. Duke and Florida are the most recent. I had the opportunity to visit Kentucky when I attended their Elite Camp. I also visited Louisville while I was in the area."
"It's really an amazing area of the country," Czyz said of the state of Kentucky, "the coaches there are all wonderful and the facilities are great. The whole state is fascinated with basketball.
Czyz said Kentucky's new practice facility was impressive, "I was shocked really. I mean, I have never seen anything like that," Czyz said, "I had no idea something like that would even exist on a college campus."
Czyz also made note of the fans, "The fans of Kentucky are crazy about basketball I can tell," he said, "they are not shy. They will just walk right up to me and start talking about my game. It's amazing how much they know."
Czyz said he has not made plans to visit other schools but suggests he will do so once he trims his list by the end of July or first week of August. "I am doing ok academically," he adds, "I got a good grade on my ACT but I need to get my core GPA up, but then I will be ready to go."
