Jomar & Leon Wright Headline In Scrimmage

DURHAM, N.C. -- Senior wide receiver Jomar Wright scored two touchdowns and sophomore cornerback Leon Wright registered a pair of interceptions to highlight Duke's 60-play situational scrimmage on Tuesday afternoon at Wallace Wade Stadium.

Quarterback Thaddeus Lewis completed six-of-16 pass attempts for 117 yards including scoring strikes of nine and 57 yards to Jomar Wright. Nine different Blue Devils caught passes on the afternoon including a two-reception, 34-yard effort from rookie Austin Kelly. Junior running back Re'quan Boyette added a four-yard touchdown run.

"I'm pleased with the progress of our offensive unit," said Duke head coach Ted Roof. "The operation continues to get better. We aren't where we want to be, but the progress has been good."

The Duke defense carded three turnovers on the two interceptions by Leon Wright and a third pickoff by redshirt freshman Ifreke Okpokowuruk. Rush end Greg Akinbiyi posted three tackles for loss including two quarterback sacks.

"I was in the right place at the right time," said Wright about his first interception which bounced off of two defenders prior to his grab.

Duke will host the annual Meet The Blue Devils Day on Saturday, August 25 from 1-3 p.m. in the Wilson Recreation Center. The Blue Devils open the 2007 season at home against Connecticut on September 1 at 2 p.m.
