For Hazelton, Duke Was The Best Fit

When Curtis Hazelton made his college choice Tuesday, he knew he wouldn't be changing his mind no matter what else came up.

"Getting the recruiting process over before my season really kicks off is a relief," said Curtis Hazelton. "I didn't want to rush anything, but I also knew that I needed to take my time. Once I made my choice, that was it."

That choice was Duke - the school that Hazelton had visited over the summer for the one day camp, and come away from both impressed and hoping for a scholarship offer. That offer came officially this week from assistant Glenn Spencer - at which point the countdown was on.

"They were always straight forward with me - telling me what the situation was. When they offered I had to look at things and judge where I was. In the end Duke offered the best fit for me. The program is on the rise, Coach Roof is a great coach, and the academics are the best in the country."

Other schools in the running included Ohio University, Central Florida, and Vanderbilt - all of whom had offered. In addition, Hazelton had been hearing from several regional programs such as Wake Forest, Georgia, and North Carolina.

At the end of the day, Hazelton says he has ended his recruitment fully and completely.

"I'm not going to be taking any more visits. I'm completely committed to Duke, and that isn't changing."
