Two days after the visit UCLA head coach Ben Howland was on Loyola's campus watching Thompson. A day later, more heavy hitters arrived. "Coach K and Lute Olson came up today," Thompson said. "Actually it was all three coaches from Duke and all three from Arizona."
Back in April, Thompson was in the beginning stages of a breakout summer. Over a 4 month span he improved steadily and when coaches did their homework they discovered a talented student with a great reputation – all the ingredients for an elite recruitment.
"I expected it to happen sometime but it all hit me so fast," Thompson said. "Right now I'm still kind of grasping it. Most of the people that I talk to are offering me. Some are just recruiting me."
Last year, Thompson unofficially visited Georgetown; he'll return to Hoyaland for Midnight Madness. He's seen the Hoyas, Bruins and Arizona Wildcats up close.
Thompson describes himself as "wide open" and "listening to everyone" has Southern Cal, Florida, North Carolina, Stanford, Cal, Wake Forest and Texas on his interest menu. There's a good chance head coaches from those programs will venture to his high school this month.
