DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke linebacker Vincent Rey has received ACC Player of the Week honors for his efforts in the Blue Devils' 20-14 victory over previously unbeaten Northwestern this past Saturday night.
Against the Wildcats, Rey posted 11 total tackles with two tackles for loss and four pass breakups. He helped the Duke
defense limit Northwestern to just two scores in five appearances in the red zone. Clinging to a 20-14 lead in the final period, the Far Rockaway, N.Y., native helped Duke withstand two Wildcat possessions in the fourth quarter in which Northwestern drove inside the Blue Devil 15 yard line but turned the ball over on downs both times.
In the ACC, Rey currently ranks third in tackles per game (11.3) and tied for eighth in tackles for loss per game (1.33).
Other weekly honorees included Boston College's Matt Ryan (offensive back), Virginia's Eugene Monroe (offensive lineman), Virginia Tech's Vince Hall (defensive lineman), Virginia's Chris Gould (specialist) and North Carolina's T.J. Yates (rookie).
