Duke Working On 2009 Lineman

Cole Bowers and his Cabell Midland High School teammates went into double overtime this past weekend, hoping to sneak into the playoffs, however their efforts were thwarted on the final play, a one yard touchdown run on fourth down that will certainly stick in their minds throughout the offseason during training.

Bowers has now been invited to four games by Duke and is also hearing consistently from Purdue and Maryland, but the focus for the 6-foot-5, 265-pound offensive lineman this past week were two trips from Ona, W.Va., to see both West Virginia and Marshall play in person.

"I went to West Virginia on Thursday for the Louisville game and actually got to go into the locker room after the game which was cool," Bowers stated. "I talk to Coach (Tony) Gibson for a while after the game who gave me his phone number and then talked with Coach (Greg Frey) about their zone blocking scheme. The atmosphere in Morgantown is amazing on game day because all there is out there is that program."

"On Saturday I went to see Marshall play and they won their game which was very exciting," Bowers explained. "I spoke to the coaching staff both before and after the game and when I saw Head Coach (Mark) Snyder he ran up and gave me a big hug before the game. They are just all really good people at Marshall and it seems to me that the coaches just really care about you there."
