Ted Roof Out As Coach At Duke

Sources close to the situation confirm that head coach Ted Roof has been released from his position.

Coming off a 1-11 season, head coach Ted Roof's future with the Duke Football program will be publicly decided this afternoon.

According to several sources close to the situation, the decision to retain or release Coach Roof has already been made by Athletics Director Joe Alleva and a meeting between the two has taken place. The result being the removal of Roof as head coach of Duke University.

Before the season Roof predicted that Duke's record would not represent the strength of the team - and, more importantly, that Duke would compete for bowl eligibility in the 2008 season. Indeed, despite just one win over Northwestern, the Blue Devils were in a position to win against Navy, Wake Forest, and North Carolina, while pushing Miami and Virginia in close games.

Still, it appears the weight of Roof's overall record of six wins and 45 losses (.118) was too much to overcome for Roof to realize his prediction for next season.
