Duke Commit Watching Coaching Search

With Ted Roof out at Duke, it appears as though several schools are making a run at Blue Devil commitment Lee Butler, a defensive back from Westside High in Anderson, S.C., and Butler wants to wait and see what happens with the new head coach.

"I've had a couple of new coaches stop by the school to talk to me about it, but it's kind of open out there since there isn't a coaching staff right now," said Butler about his commitment to Duke. "I'm not really sure how that I feel until there's a new coach in place."

What information Butler currently has comes from the Duke coaches with whom he has spoken over the last few days.

"Two or three of the coaches are still going to be there, but I talked to the coach in my zone and told me about everything that is going on. He stopped by the school to talk to be about it in person and said that I am still with Duke and [the coaching change] doesn't change anything. They are about to hire a big-time coach that's going to change things around."

Butler said the Duke assistant conveyed a sense of commitment, both in their interest still with Butler and that they would like to see him stay committed until a new coach is in place.

"I'm still committed right now, but it is all depending on who comes in and the way I feel about the new staff."

While the wait continues, several programs are dropping by the high school and he is thinking about taking a few official visits.

"North Carolina State stopped by the school to talk to me, and some other schools are still coming. I was supposed to take my official visit to Duke the first of December, but guess I need to reschedule that for when the new coach is there.
