Singler Earns 3rd ACC ROW Honor This Season

Duke freshman Kyle Singler was named ACC Rookie of the Week for the third time this season on Monday. He is one of only two players in the league to win the award more than once and the only player to receive it three times this season.

Singler, a forward from Medford, Ore., scored 14 points to go along with eight rebounds in Duke's 81-67 victory over Cornell on Sunday in Durham. He shot 5-of-12 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free-throw line in the game. He also added a career-high four assists, one blocked shot and one steal in 29 minutes of action.

On the season Singler is third among ACC rookies in scoring at 13.4 ppg. and fifth in rebounding with 6.2 rpg. Overall in the conference he is 16th in scoring, tied for 17th in rebounding and ninth with 2.58 offensive rebounds per game. He is shooting .524 (55-of-105) for the season, including .417 (15-of-36) from beyond the arc. He is also shooting .780 (39-of-50) from the free-throw line.

Singler and the Blue Devils will play two games this week. They travel to Philadelphia, Pa. on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. tip against Temple at the Wachovia Center. On Sunday they return to Cameron Indoor Stadium where they will open up ACC play with an 8 p.m. contest against Virginia.
