Williams Becomes Cutcliffe's First Commit

After hosing his first big recruiting weekend as the head coach of Duke, David Cutcliffe has at least one commitment to his credit as Alabama prospect Johnny Williams made his decision.

"Before I left campus, I met with Coach Cutcliffe and told him I was committed to Duke," said Leroy High standout Johnny Williams. "I had always known about Duke, and I am sure it's going to be a perfect fit for me."

Williams, who clocks in with sub 4.4 speed in the forty, projects to begin his career as a member of the special teams unit, but could move into the defensive backfield or even as a slot receiver.

"Right now I am just planning to go in and really work hard. The chance to do well for Coach Cutcliffe and Coach Middleton is something I'm excited about. Both are great coaches who will help Duke put a great team on the field."

Now that he's moved forward with his recruiting process, Williams says he's solid with the Blue Devils and is looking forward to National Signing Day.

"There are so many positives at Duke. It's full of great people and I'll be getting a great education. I'm excited about signing."
