Hollingsworth Buys Into Cutcliffe's Pitch

Whenever there is a coaching staff change there are some players who need to be re-recruited to the program. While in-state prospect Jay Hollingsworth was certain he wanted to be a Blue Devil, he hadn't yet come face to face with his new coaches. That all changed this weekend.

"The level of excitement the coaches bring to the table is something that's hard to ignore," said Jay Hollingsworth. "After this weekend I am ready to get to Duke and start preparing for the upcoming season."

A big reason for the unbridled enthusiasm from the 5'11, 190lbs prospect is new coach David Cutcliffe, who met with Hollingsworth and confirmed Duke's desire for him to stay committed and to come in ready to go.

"With a new staff you know the coaches are going to have everyone starting on the same footing. He let everyone know that the best players would be stepping on the field for him next fall. No matter where they are right now. That kind of competition is what makes everyone better."

Though there was some debate among Duke fans in regards to the three star prospect's future position, Hollingsworth believes he'll be lining up on the offensive side of the ball for the next four or five seasons in Durham.

"I met with Coach Roper and we went over how they see me contributing. They see me as a running back, and that's great for me. I will play wherever they need me to play, though."

So is Hollingsworth, who initially turned down Virginia, Air Force, and East Carolina for Duke, secure in his commitment?

"Absolutely. I'm looking forward to being at Duke. It's the best combination of education and athletics you can get. And, with Coach Cutcliffe, we're going to turn the program into a winner."
