Mackey Ready To Make The Call?

Heading into the meeting with head coach David Cutcliffe, Louisiana linebacker Trent Mackey said he was thinking very much about committing to the Blue Devils. After spending several hours with the new Duke head man, is Mackey ready to make his choice?

"I just got out of my meeting with Coach Cutcliffe," said Trent Mackey. "He brought Coach Collins with him to talk about how we're going to play next year and how the program is going to turn around. It was really laid back and there wasn't any pressure put on my by either of them. When they left I think we were all on the same page."

That same page appears to lead to Mackey making the call for Duke. But the announcement, which sources believed was coming tonight, will have to wait a few more days.

"Right now I am going to wait and make an announcement on Wednesday afternoon. It's not really going to be a press conference - just an announcement. I talked it over with the coaches and they are cool with that."

And, heading into this final stretch, what does the decision come down to?

"I've got all the information and I will be choosing between Duke and Tulane. I am not committed, but Duke is way out in front. The school, the coaches, and the whole package is just too attractive for me. I think it's a great opportunity."

But could the Green Wave swoop in at the last minute and retain their current verbal commitment?

"Nobody is going to change my mind with this. It's my decision and I'm going to stick with it. I'm looking forward to announcing on Wednesday"
