Lee Butler Is A Blue Devil

In a signing day upset, the Blue Devils have regained three star cornerback Lee Butler after the Anderson (S.C.) High standout had committed to Georgia Tech in January.

The National Letter of Intent came into the Duke Football office at 11:16 AM EST, formally ending the roller coaster ride that has been Lee Butler's recruitment.

Butler, who visited Duke in mid-January officially, came away from that visit with positive remarks, saying he was looking forward to "turning Duke around".

"It was just a big concern with the old coaches and the ability to really turn things around. The new staff is totally different. They are all young guys who are really energetic and all about the players becoming the best they can be. They aren't just talking about change, they are making people believe that they will change things and turn the Duke program into a winner."

Not only did the Duke pitch win out over Tech's Paul Johnson, Coach David Cutcliffe's staff also played a crucial role:

"They've had several guys make it to the biggest and best level. They have coaches from the Cowboys and Saints up there, as well as coaches who played in the NFL. When they tell you they know what it takes, you have to believe them. They are just a great bunch of coaches - the best I've seen."
