Playing their third game in just five days, the Cavaliers didn't have the legs to deal with wave after wave of Duke (26-3) scoring, and it showed as Virginia began to wear down towards halftime. After leading 29-28, the Cavaliers saw the Blue Devils close the half on a 15-2 run that would extend into the second period with another 10-2 spurt pushing the lead to 61-43 and effectively deciding the game.
Kyle Singler scored 13 of his 18 points in the second half for Duke, while DeMarcus Nelson had 16, Greg Paulus 14 and Jon Scheyer 10. The Blue Devils hit 12 3-pointers and shot almost 51 percent from the field.
The victory was the 801st of Mike Krzyzewski's career. Should Duke complete the season sweep of North Carolina on Saturday night in Cameron, it would mark the 17th time the Blue Devils have won the regular season title under Coach K.
In his final game against Duke, super senior Sean Singletary finished with 18 points and seven assists for the Cavaliers, while Calvin Baker had 15 and Mamadi Diane 12. Virginia (14-14) will close out the regular season by hosting Maryland this weekend.
