Combine Standout Listing Duke

Monterius Lovett, cornerback from Tallahassee-Rickards, (Fla.), was a standout performer at the Scout.com Under Armour combine Sunday in Jacksonville. Lovett talked about his performance and schools showing early interest.

"I thought the combine went really good," said Monterius Lovett. "I liked it a lot. I felt like I learned a lot of new things that I am going take back with me."

"I really enjoyed working with coach [Don] Cox. He was real aggressive and stayed after you. I liked that, and that is going to help make me better."

Lovett measured in at 5-foot-9, 152-pounds and was a shut down cornerback throughout the day. He was very aggressive, showed quickness and moved his hips extremely well.

"I think I helped myself with my performance," he said. "I have not received any offers yet, but I do have some schools who are looking at me. Purdue, Louisville, Notre Dame, Indiana and Duke are all showing a lot of interest."

Lovett is not receiving any in-state interest at this time, but that will possibly change. He lists Florida, Florida State, Purdue and LSU as early favorites.

Florida: "I like their team. They work real hard. I also really like their environment."

Florida State: "I like Florida State because I have been going for them since I was young. I like their team. They play very aggressive and they work hard."

Purdue: "I like them because of their academics, discipline and environment."

LSU: "They are the same as Purdue. I like their academics. I like their environment and size of the school."

Lovett recorded 57 tackles and one interception as a junior. He is aware of his strengths and what he hopes to improve before the senior season.

"I feel like I have good coverage skills, and I am quick," he said. "I really need to improve my foot work before next season."

Lovett hopes to receive his first offer in the very near future and knows the factors going into a college decision.

"I am basically looking for a school with good academics," he said. "I want to be around a team with good discipline and try to find the place that is best for me."
