Cutcliffe Lands First 2009 Commit

Sources confirm to TDD that Ryan Hall, a 6'4 tight end prospect from Olympia (Fla.) High has offered his pledge to Duke head coach David Cutcliffe.

It took a bit longer than expected, but the Blue Devils finally have their first commitment from the class of 2009. The first pledge comes from 6-foot-4, 238 pound tight end Ryan Hall, who ended his recruiting process on Sunday night.

"Before I left Duke I had a chance to sit down with Coach Cutcliffe, and I told him I wanted to commit to being a Blue Devil," said Hall. "He was really excited, and welcomed me to the Duke family."

Such a quick decision wasn't originally in the cards for Hall, but after spending a few days with the coaches around the program things were quickly set in motion.

"I got an offer from them a week ago, and I wanted to see how the new staff was. Things are much different than they were a year ago."

And those differences made Hall's decision much easier.

"I just knew after sleeping on it. I'm very happy with [my decision]."

Hall chose Duke over Boston College, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, and Harvard. He finished his junior season with 18 catches for 226 yards for his high school team.
