Rojas' pick of the Blue Devils comes over an offer from East Carolina, a verbal offer at camp from Vanderbilt, and interest from Virginia and North Carolina. However it was Duke's heavy interest that made the decision easy for Rojas.
"Duke offered me about a week ago, and when I was on my way to camp with Vanderbilt I had a chance to communicate with Coach Cut. So I kind of went to camp thinking about Duke. The more I thought of it the more I knew that I just liked Duke better."
Recruited to play outside linebacker, Rojas measures out at 6-foot-3, 205 pounds, and has a personal best forty time of 4.5 seconds. As a junior at Wakefield he recorded 73 tackles (37 solo), two interceptions, and one touchdown. Rojas hopes to continue that positive career path over the next few months.
"I plan on graduating in December and enrolling in January. I will be at Spring Practice. I'm really looking forward to adding some weight and getting ready to play. We really haven't talked about red-shirting or not. All Coach Cutcliffe has said is that they need a guy like me in their defensive scheme. They need a lot of speed from the SAM backer spot because of their blitz package."
Recruited by assistant coach Scottie Montgomery, Rojas becomes the sixth commitment from the class of 2009.
