Big Lineman Camped At Duke

Matt Lauro was extremely productive as a junior on the defensive line and could play on either side of the line of scrimmage at the next level. He is already holding a few scholarship offers and recently attended a string of camps to get himself some exposure and show coaching staffs that he is worth of scholarship.

Matt Lauro, a 6-foot-1, 295-pound defensive tackle from Old Farms High School in Avon, Conn., broke down his recruiting visits recently with and things sound promising for the disruptive defensive lineman.

"I camped at Boston College on June 13th and really liked the school and setup of the campus," Lauro said. "I'm not sure if I fit the typical Boston College lineman as I'm obviously pretty stocky, but I got some very positive feedback from Coach McGovern and Coach Mike Siravo. They're a great school academically and at this point I'm just waiting to see how things play out with them."

"The following day I camped at Connecticut where I'm being recruited by Coach Hank Hughes and Coach Matt Cersosimo," Lauro stated. "I liked the new facilities a lot and the indoor field and weight room were both awesome. I thought I did well at camp and Coach Hughes took me aside and said he liked me. We have been in touch since then and things look pretty good."

"My next visit was down to Duke on June 21st and am being recruited by Coach Drew Dayton," Lauro explained. "I was one of a few kids from north of North Carolina and wasn't really being recruited much by them going in other than getting invited to the camp and having my film reviewed. I think I definitely opened a lot of eyes at the camp and showed I could compete with the kids from down south. I didn't lose a one-on-one and was very quick to the quarterback down there according to the coaching staff. Since then I have been in touch with Coach Hobby and have gotten a lot of positive feedback from him which means a lot to me since he spent years coaching professionally. I like the setup of the school and feel that Head Coach David Cutcliffe is a players coach."

"I went to Syracuse on July 3rd and am being recruited by Coach Jackson. When I met him I really enjoyed talking to him and feel like we have a lot in common about work ethic and the game of football. I like that Syracuse has produced so many professional football players and also like the location of the school. I feel I could possibly play early there if I worked hard in their rising program."

Lauro is holding an offer from Bryant right now and is also being recruited heavily by Rutgers, Stony Brook and a number of other FCS level programs.

As a junior, Lauro registered 83 tackles, 32 tackles for loss and eight sacks in nine games. He was voted first-team All-Lea
