Midwest RB Could Be Next For Duke

Barrington (Ill.) High has a couple of big time prospects in the class of 2009. Perhaps the main one is running back Sam Ojuri who was his team's big play threat as a junior. Now this talented runner has the Blue Devils heavily involved.

Holding offers from Akron and Eastern Michigan to date, Sam Ojuri says he' seen interest from other schools starting to pick up. Teams such as Cincinnati, Arizona, and Purdue have all expressed interest, as have the Blue Devils. Others such as Wyoming, Michigan State, Northern Illinois, Ball State, and Western Michigan are also indicating offers are on the way.

"Right now I am looking around and seeing who is really interested, and I'm going to give it until the end of the summer. If nothing else happens there then I'm probably going to choose from the schools I've been in touch with."

Which is why a visit later this month could very well decide Ojuri's fate with the Duke football program.

"I'm going to visit Duke shortly, and it seems like I could get an offer when I do. I talk to the coaches a lot and they really point out the advantages of me coming there. They offer a great education and their new coaching staff has what it takes to make the program into a winner. To be part of something like that is hard to pass up. If I did get an offer from them, I could decide pretty quickly."

As a junior Ojuri put up a staggering average of 11.2 yards per carry as he racked up 942 yards on 84 carries while scoring 14 touchdowns. Ojuri credits that kind of production to his style of play and approach to the game.

"I can do either style. I can run over you and hit the defender, but when I get outside I can also turn it on and break away."
