Georgia DB Will Commit Tuesday

Berkmar HS product Kadeem Wise has been waiting for over a month for the Duke Blue Devils to offer, and they have come through. The talented CB had been to a one-day camp and said that he would commit if they offered. It appears that Mr. Wise is a man of his word. "Yes Sir, I will be a Blue Devil on Tuesday," he said. "It was kind of weird because I was just talking to my coach about if they were going to offer."

When I checked my email last night, Coach Luke had told me that he hoped that I was ready to be a Blue Devil and to call him."

This is typically the kind of message that is always good news, but things still weren't quite settled.

"When I called he asked how I was doing an how the recruiting process was going," Wise said. "And I told him that Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Indiana were on the verge of offering.

After that he told me that the coaching staff had just come back from vacation and just had their meeting that night."

Every coaching staff in America has meetings such as these, and the decisions that are made are often quite major. So what was the verdict?

"They said that I had an excellent camp and ran the second fastest 40 with a 4.32," he said proudly. "He also said that the whole coaching staff LOVED me and that they were going to offer me."

He told me that he would be sending it in the mail Monday, and I told him that I would love to be a Blue Devil" Wise recounted. "But I needed to talk to my parents about it."

Wise appears to be a solid young man and will be an asset to the Duke program. In speaking to him, it quickly becomes obvious that he is level-headed and has a good infrastructure at home. So, based on his reaction and ultimate decision, his family must have been impressed, as well.

"We sat down that night an they asked me if that was where I really wanted to be," he said. "I told them that I'm sure because it felt like home as soon as I stepped on the campus!"

So what has the Berkmar standout so smitten with the Blue Devils?

"The thing that really made me fall in love with Duke was the coaching staff, especially the DB coach, Coach Jones. He is a Great guy and really made things easier for me to make my decision."

They also have signed a lot of good players this year. Coach Cutliffe is going to change the program tremendously, and it will no longer be looked at as just a basketball school."

Wise clearly has high praise for the up-and-coming program, but he also understands the inherent value in attending such a university.

"As far as the academics go you can't find anything better."

Looks like a perfect fit for both parties.
