On The Verge Of A Duke Offer?

Walton High School was a pretty busy place during the recruitment of Chase Thomas. Just about everybody in the country at one point either stopped in to check in on Chase or to watch game tape. As a result of Thomas' far reaching recruitment, several teammates fell under the watchful of eyes of college recruiters. One youngster who appears to have profted is David Paulsen.

Walton High is already hard at work as they prepare for the 2008 season.

"It's going pretty good," said Pauslen. "We've been going solid for about two or three weeks now. We're getting ready to scrimmage Norcross high school this Saturday. They always have a good team. They may be the toughest team we play all year."

David has picked up several college options and he believes that a strong senior season will produce a few more.

"I have offers from Stanford, Tulane, Miami of Ohio, Western Carolina and all of the service academies have offered," said Paulsen. "I think Vanderbilt and Duke are close to offering. I think Duke is probably a little closer to offering than Vanderbilt.

"Duke has had so many commitments that they told me that they want to see what else they are going to need. Coach Cutcliffe is going to get with the rest of the staff and figure everything out."

Pauslen is grateful to have the options he has and is appreciative for all of the interest he has received. He has been in regular contact with one of his in-state schools, but so far they have been slow to offer.

"I have been talking to Georgia a good bit," said Pauslen. "They are offering me a chance to walk-on at fullback. Coach Richt just tells me to keep working hard and good things are going to work out. Right now they are just talking about me being a preferred walk-on."

As the leaves begin to turn, David will be out and about taking in the guided tours and soaking in the game day atmosphere at a few schools of interest.

"I have an unofficial visit set up for Tulane in September and I am taking an official visit to Miami of Ohio the first weekend of October," said Paulsen. "I'll be going to games at Georgia some this season. I'll probably go to most of them unless I have committed some where."

David is still considering his options and he does not plan on making his commitment for some time.

"I am not in any hurry to decide," said Paulsen. "Right now I am thinking about doing something after October. You just never know how the season is going to progress. I may have a break out year and get some other offers."
