Blue Devils Offer Ryan Kelly

Local power forward received an official offer from Duke during yesterday's meeting on campus with the Blue Devil coaching staff.

Sources confirm that Raleigh (N.C.) Ravenscroft School power forward Ryan Kelly has been offered a scholarship by head coach Mike Krzyzewski. The offer was extended during a meeting between Kelly, his family, and the Duke coaching staff yesterday afternoon in Durham.

Ranked as the nation's third best power forward and a five star prospect by Scout.com, Kelly first drew the Blue Devils' interest with his strong performances with the U18 National team in Las Vegas.

Perhaps no prospect has shot up the rankings as fast as Kelly in the past year as Dave Telep outlined in his latest report on the rankings of the 2009 class:

"Merely a year ago, Kelly was on the verge of receiving mid-major offers," said Telep. "Now, he's told some of America's national basketball powers that he's not interested. His performance in Las Vegas, a day after returning from Argentina with USA Basketball, was laced with skill, style and meaningful improvement."
