Duke Tracking Top 2010 Offensive Lineman

Palatine Fremd (Ill.) offensive tackle Christian Lombard has established himself as one of the top juniors in the country. Recently, he has added to his already impressive offers list as well as filled out his unofficial visits calendar for the coming weeks.

He was already considered one of the best linemen in the Midwest, but Palatine Fremd junior Christian Lombard has continued to improve, which is a scary thought for future opponents.

"I think I'm doing a lot better than last year," Lombard explained, "I thought I was pretty decent last year, but I've improved a lot. Our team is 5-2 and even though we lost last week, that was probably one of my best games individually. I'll be able to put a lot of stuff on my highlight tape from last week."

There will be many schools eager to see that tape, but several of them have already seen enough. Lombard received six offers right after September 1st (Nebraska, Stanford, Duke, Michigan, Notre Dame and Iowa) and recently added to that list.

"North Carolina has offered and Indiana," he reported, "but the bulk of them will come after the season. I'm getting mail from all over the nation: Georgia, Tennessee, Oregon, UCLA, California, Purdue, Michigan State."

At the moment, Lombard does not have a leader or any favorites, saying, "I'm really not that into it right now. I haven't thought about it as much as I will in the offseason."

Part of the process will of course, be his visits. Lombard has already been on one unofficial visit and has more planned for the coming weeks.

"I just saw Notre Dame when they played Michigan," he said, "I thought it was awesome. I had never been to a Notre Dame game before. I met Lou Holtz and it was an awesome atmosphere. I'm going to go see Iowa next week and the week after that, I'll be at Michigan."

Lombard says he may take more unofficial visits after the season, but when and where have yet to be determined.
