2011's McAdoo Visits Duke

Many Duke fans knew that 2010 small forward Harrison Barnes was on campus this weekend along with several Duke commits from the classes of 2009 and 2010. In addition the Blue Devils got a last minute visit from 2011 big foward James McAdoo.

"I was in the area at North Carolina's Late Night event and I called Duke to ask if I could stop by and watch the game and make a visit. I got to Duke a little late and had a chance to talk to Coach Wojo and Coach K. We talked a little bit about Duke's track record of producing very good frontcourt players - guys who can play several positions in the NBA. When you look at the guys who have been there - and who are now in the NBA - it really is an impressive list."

Rated as the nation's top power forward and a five star prospect in the class of 2011 according to Scout.com, McAdoo has a the usual hoard of high majors pursuing him. Having already spent time at Duke and North Carolina, he will also visit Florida next month. The Gators, along with UCLA and Wake Forest have each offered a scholarship. However, being just a sophomore, McAdoo acknowledges that a decision isn't really on his radar.

"It's so early and I have a lot of schools interested. I don't want to commit to a school early on without seeing as many options as I can. Once I have gotten enough info on each of the schools I am going to sit down and start weighing out my options. But, I've got time."

Scout.com National Recruiting Analyst Dave Telep described McAdoo this summer as as "a big man who moves well, is equipped with long arms and knows how to score around the basket. The past few years Boo Williams has had some big time post prospects (Patrick Patterson, Ed Davis and Deshawn Painter) and it looks like McAdoo is next in line."
