Blue Devils Land Top In-State Junior QB

Last month Weddington (N.C.) High standout Anthony Boone told TDD that he was highly interested in Duke along with several other programs. Over the weekend, however, Boone decided that he was more than interested - he wanted to join Coach Cutcliffe's program.

"Ever since the process started Coach Cutclffe had been telling me I was their guy," said Anthony Boone. "I had a chance to meet with him this morning and I decided that it was time to commit. Knowing that I'm going to be playing for a guy with his track record is exciting."

Boone, who chose Duke over offers from Illinois and interest from Clemson, Virginia Tech, and South Carolina, admitted that while he had been thinking about playing for the Blue Devils, there was one issue he had to make sure of.

"Coach Cutcliffe told me that he's not leaving Duke for another job. He said he's here to build a program and he was sure he was going to be at Duke. I believe that."

As a junior Boone has racked up over 1,400 yards passing with 16 touchdowns, while also adding another four scores rushing. He is considered one of the top dual threat quarterbacks in the region according to
