Blue Devils A Top Choice For 2010 DE

New Britain, Conn., product Martin Pomykala has the potential to line up at both linebacker and defensive end at the collegiate level, but admits he would like to stand up and rush from the outside. So far he has already picked up his first scholarship offer, but will be waiting on other schools to step up to the plate.

New Britain High School defensive end Martin Pomykala was already offered a scholarship by Central Connecticut State, however the 6-foot-3, 240-pound athlete is also hearing from schools like LSU, Connecticut, Boston College and Duke and hopes that offers will come from them as well.

"I already visited Connecticut for their game against Hofstra," Pomykala said. "I had a really good time during the game and afterward they took us into the locker room to meet the players and coaches. I camped there in the summer and also got to see the facilities which were pretty ridiculous. I like that Storrs is close to home and that the team has really been getting better lately."

"Duke and Boston College are two other schools I'm interested in because I'm really looking at academics first," Pomykala explained. "Duke wanted me down for a visit earlier this season, but it's so far away I couldn't make it down there. I do plan to get down sometime though."

Pomykala has a max bench of 350 pounds and a max squat of 550 pounds. He reports a 3.0 core GPA and scored a 1670 on his SAT.
