Berkmar HS (GA) standout has backed off his verbal commitment to the Blue Devils and will explore his options all the way up to National Signing Day sources confirmed to Scout.com's Burke Hayes.
The loss of Wise will likely mean the Blue Devils begin pursuit of a possible late addition to the offensive line or, perhaps, the linebacking corps. Ohio's Luke Kuechly
is thought to be the program's top remaining target at this time.
Wise originally chose Duke over heavy interest from Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Indiana, Virginia Tech, and Vanderbilt. After visiting Atlanta to see the Yellow Jackets face off against Miami last weekend, it's appears as though the possibility of a Tech offer was too much for the Georgia native to pass up.
Duke's commitment count now sits at 26 players from the class of 2009.
