2010 MLB Visited Duke

The Tidewater region of Virginia always brings a ton of talent to the table and Matthew Baptiste is looking to be yet another one of those players who goes on to a successful collegiate career. Scout.com talked to him recently about the schools he is talking to and found out he's already been to see some of them in person.

Matthew Baptiste, a 6-foot, 225-pound middle linebacker from Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach, Va., is currently hearing from Delaware, Maryland, East Carolina, Virginia, Duke and West Virginia and has been to three of the schools on game day already.

"I went to see Virginia play Miami and they lost in overtime which was kind of a bummer," Baptiste said. "I loved the fans there because they were really into the game and stayed loud throughout. The entire program is very "team" oriented and I liked that a lot about them."

"The fans were also crazy at East Carolina for the Marshall game," Baptiste explained. "ECU has a very solid team, a nice campus and great facilities. I also think Head Coach Skip Holtz is a great coach and really bringing that program up."

"I also went to Duke to watch them play North Carolina and loved the facilities and the campus. I like the history of the program and while it's been a while since they have been consistently good, they're definitely trying to get back on target now. They are also a very good academic institution which I am definitely looking for."

Baptiste registered 107 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble and a safety as a junior.
