Georgia D-Lineman Is Offered

The Peach State has some talented defensive tackles in 2010 and one of the best is Shawn Green. He doesn't have the offers yet of guys like Garrison Smith, Denzel McCoy, or Jeffrey Whitaker, but he is closing in on those guys. Three new offers came in on Thursday including a big one from a program in Florida.

"Duke sent me their written offer today, Tulane offered me today, and Florida State offered me today," said Shawn Green. "I have been talking to Duke, so I expected that one and I had been hearing from Tulane too, but FSU was a real surprise." "I had never talked to them until I talked to Coach [Odell] Haggins today. My coach just sent my film to FSU and they watched it today right before they offered me."

"My coach came to get me and told me I needed to call FSU and that is when Coach Haggins said he was offering me a scholarship. He said they watched my tape over and over again and that he really liked the way I played. He told me I was the type of defensive lineman that he wanted."

Those three schools now join Ole Miss, East Carolina, Indiana, Toledo, Michigan State, and Oklahoma State on Green's offer list.

The 6-foot-1, 273 pound defensive tackle has 11 offers and more will come this spring.

One of the in-state schools could be close to offering.

"Paul Johnson (Georgia Tech Head Coach) just called me on Wednesday and he wants me to come back to Georgia Tech and visit them again. He told me that he liked my tape and he wants me to come back to visit them soon. They are showing a lot of interest – their coaches just came by the school to check on me earlier this week too."

"Georgia is just asking me to be patient with them. I have visited there before and I have interest in them, so I am going to just see what they do."

Things have really gotten going for the Grayson Ram and he currently likes five. Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, FSU, Georgia, and Duke were the schools he listed as his favorites at this time.

When asked about a decision, Green said, "I am just going to wait it out until the fall and see what happens with offers."
