"I have expected some of the offers and some of them have been totally unexpected. I still get surprised by the offers though to be honest."
The offers started coming in for the 6-foot-5, 280 pound offensive tackle out of Roswell (GA) Centennial last fall. Some of the schools that jumped on him early have moved to the top of his list.
"Duke and Florida on top and then South Carolina," he said. "You could put Stanford in there next. My top three have been around for a long time, so I have had time to build relationships with those schools."
Even though he has a top three or four, that does not mean he is close to a decision.
"I am not really sure yet when I want to commit, but I know I want to take some visits this summer first. I have thought about committing late and I am probably going to stay with that."
"If the summer goes well, I guess I could commit a little earlier than I thought originally. I know I will visit Duke, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Georgia Tech, and Georgia this summer for sure. I would like to visit schools like UCLA and Stanford too – maybe even more. I know I am going to be busy, but I need to see as many schools as I can."
Yankey was just named to the Scout.com All-Combine Team in Atlanta a few weeks ago and he has pretty much enjoyed the recruiting process to this point.
"All of the offers have been very exciting and I have enjoyed getting each one, but getting so much mail every day and going through it is a hassle sometimes. It is just hard to look at it all and know which one might be an offer or something."
"Overall, it is fun though."
