Devils Have Offered Florida QB

Tarean Austin is emerging as one of the top quarterback prospects in the entire state of Florida for the Class of 2010. Scout.com caught up with the Tampa (Hillsborough) standout to talk about the latest on the recruiting front.

Tarean Austin is coming off an excellent junior season when he threw for 1,598 yards and 17 touchdowns compared to just six picks.

"I just listen to everything my coaches tell me and I love to go out there and practice it," Austin said.

At 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, Austin has ideal size, arm strength, and athletic ability. Those are some of the reasons why so many schools are showing interest in him.

"I have offers from UCF, USF, Richmond, Duke, Purdue, Wake Forest, Rutgers, and Iowa State," he said. "It's been great. A lot of other schools are supposed to be coming to watch us this spring."

Despite having all those offers, Austin isn't ready to name favorites yet.

"I don't have a top five or anything like that," he said. "I'm interested in everyone who offers me. I'm trying to keep my options open. Miami was my favorite team growing up but they don't seem too interested and I kinda wanna get away anyway."

The talented signal-caller talked about what he'll be looking for in a school.

"I'm trying to get away from home," he said. "I wanna go out and meet new coaches and new people, learn new things. That's the biggest thing."

Inside the classroom, Austin claims a 2.2 GPA and a 19 ACT score.
