DURHAM, N.C. – Senior linebacker Michael Tauiliili agreed to a two-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts following the team's rookie mini-camp this past weekend.
Tauiliili, a 2008 Duke
captain from Houston, Texas, was a second team Walter Camp All-America selection this past season after recording 140 tackles, 13.0 tackles for loss, four interceptions, five pass breakups, five quarterback hurries, three caused fumbles and one fumble recovery. He led the ACC in tackles and ranked third nationally to garner first team All-ACC honors.
Three Duke players have now signed free agent contracts with NFL teams in the last week. Tauiliili joins Cameron Goldberg, who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs, and Eron Riley, who signed with the Baltimore Ravens. Tauiliili will try to become the fourth Blue Devil to play in Indianapolis, joining Brian Baldinger (1988-91), Bernard Holsey (2000) and Joel Patten (1987-88).
Tauiliili will be back in Durham for graduation this weekend and will report back to Indianapolis for Organized Team Activities (OTA) beginning May 19.
