Blue Devils Have Offered Texas DE

Defensive end Kirk Poston of Houston (St. Pius X), Texas, is a big, aggressive defensive end. Poston did not know his exact stats from last season, but watching him on tape is impressive. He is 6-3, 245 pounds and runs a 4.7 in the forty.

Poston has been playing regularly on the defensive line since his sophomore season. He is a good student and has a 330-pound max on the bench press and a 505-pound max on the squat. He also has solid attention and offers.

"I've got four scholarship offers so far," said Poston. "Kansas State has offered, Arizona, U of H (Houston), and Duke. Oklahoma State did come by yesterday and they send me a lot of letters. I'm looking at making a decision probably sometime this summer."

Poston hinted that he would try to attend some camps and get by to look at some schools over the summer. His father is Carl Poston, founder of Professional Sports Planning and a representative of many outstanding pro athletes.

Asked if his dad's business influenced his love of football or even helped him in the sport, Kirk really said it did not. " I've really always loved football and I've been playing football since a I was little," he answered.

The stout defensive end that on tape looks equally as adept at rushing the passer and playing the run, said geography will not play a role in his decision, but academics certainly will.

"I want to major in either medicine or business," said Poston. "I'm looking for a school that is really strong in academics and can also compete on the field."

Poston said spring football just started on Monday of this week at St. Pius X, a Texas private school league TAPPS powerhouse. Those practices should bring in more coaches over the n
