'Bama Backer Gets Duke Offer

Taylon Hunter, outside linebacker from Roanoke-Handley, Ala., has a pair of scholarship offers and receiving interest from several programs across the country. Hunter had a monster junior season with his wide range of athletic ability.

"I have received offers from Duke and Southern Illinois," said Taylon Hunter. "The Duke offer was really big. I talked to one of their coaches a little bit before he came down to see me. I felt real good about the offer. It lets me know my hard work is paying off. It motivates me to strive harder."

"I have been talking to Vanderbilt, Louisiana Tech and a couple of more schools. I have been getting mail from Georgia Tech, Clemson, UCLA, LSU, JSU, UAB, Missouri, TCU and Florida State. I am going to try to camp at Missouri, Duke, UCLA and TCU."

The 6-foot, 207-pound prospect talked more about the offer from the Blue Devils.

"I have been looking hard at their program," Hunter said. "They are on the rise. They might have lost a couple of games last year, but they are going to be pretty tough in the ACC. I think they could win a bowl game this year."

Hunter does not list any favorites, but has been a life-long fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and Tennessee Volunteers.

He recorded 122 tackles in 2008, 13 tackles for loss, one sack, two forced fumbles and seven pass deflections. He was awarded All-County, All-Area and won the team 'Headhunter' award.

"I would say my strengths are my ability to get to the ball," Hunter said. "I can run down most running backs. I have great quickness. I can take on blocks and make a lot of plays. I would like to improve my coverage skills."
