Duke Amongst Favorites For 3 Star LB

Kendall Moore, Scout.com three-star middle linebacker from Raleigh-Southeast, N.C. is beginning his whirlwind tour of schools. He traveled to an SEC school last week and has several upcoming trips. He recently trimmed his list of schools as well.

"Everything has been going really good so far," said Kendall Moore. "We are doing a whole bunch of stuff right now. We are trying to figure everything out. I am going on my tour of schools now."

"I went to Tennessee last Friday for their camp. I am going to N.C. State on Wednesday. Then on Thursday I am leaving to go to Notre Dame. I will probably visit a couple of other schools pretty soon as well like Florida State, Maryland and South Carolina."

Moore talked about the unofficial visit to Knoxville and camping with the Volunteers.

"The visit to Tennessee went well," he said. "I liked it a lot as far as the whole atmosphere and stadium. The school is huge. I feel like they are going in the right direction. There was some good competition out there."

"As far as I know from meeting the coaches they are good people. Coach [Monte] Kiffin and his knowledge of defense is ridiculous. I talked to coach [David] Reaves for a while. Tennessee hasn't offered yet. They said they are going to get back to me later on."

"The linebackers coach [Lance Thompson] told me he liked my game a lot in the one-on-ones. He was impressed with what he saw. I felt like I did pretty good. I am pretty confident in how I did. I am coming off a hamstring injury. I am working on that, and I felt like this weekend is the closest I have been to 100-percent."

"I like the school a lot. It looks like a real nice place to go to school. I feel pretty good about them after leaving."

The Volunteers will need to offer soon if they plan to get in the running for Moore's signature. The schools on his recent list of favorites include Notre Dame, Florida State, N.C. State, Duke, Maryland, South Carolina and Clemson.

Moore gave additional insight of the seven schools garnering his attention.

Notre Dame: "I like them a lot because of coach [Corwin] Brown. We have a real good relationship and understanding like where he wants me to play. He has been in real good contact with my coach and family. We have a real good relationship."

Florida State: "I like them a lot because I like a lot of their history. Coach [Chuck] Amato and I have formed a real good relationship with him being at N.C. State. He knows a lot about my high school. Most people that come here don't know a lot about my school. He knew where to find me."

N.C. State: "It's big for me because they were my first offer. That means a lot to me."

Duke: "They are on the rise. I am feeling them a lot. Coach [Scottie] Montgomery is a good recruiter. Coach [David] Cutcliffe explained to me what they are trying to do. You can't price a Duke education."

Maryland: "The linebacker [Demetrius Hartsfield] who played next to me for two years is up there now. He tells me a lot of good stuff. They got a new linebackers coach [Al Seamonson]. As far as what he [Hartsfield] tells me I like them lot."

South Carolina: "They were my No. 1 from the beginning. I was liking them a lot especially after I visited the Tennessee game. It was ridiculous with all the fans. I like the atmosphere."

Clemson: "I really like the defense they run. I know coach [Danny] Pearman real good. I am close to him and coach [Andre'] Powell. I know them both pretty good. We have a good relationship."

Moore's attention is focused on winning a state championship, so an early decision is on the horizon.

"As of now I plan to make a decision before the season," he stated. "That is what I am trying to get to. I don't want it to be a distraction."

Moore knows the determining factors in helping him decide the school which fits best.

"I am going to be looking at the feel of the program," he explained. "Every person I know that is committed said they went there and knew it was right. I want it to be a good fit for me as far as the coaching staff and defense."
