Several 2010 Recruits On Campus Tonight

With the recent new of the de-commitment of their top overall prospect from the class of 2010, the Duke coaching staff will welcome a number of players from the current senior class - including a handful of current commits to Wallace Wade for the game against NC Central.

Current commitments from the class of 2010 in attendance will include both quarterbacks - Anthony Boone and Brandon Connette. Both players have remained strong with their verbal pledges throughout the summer and into the early fall. Boone is ranked as a two star player and the nation's No. 98 quarterback. Meanwhile the California based Connette is considered a three star prospect and the nation's No. 59 prospect according to Scout.

Fresh off putting up huge numbers for Smithfield-Selma on a routine basis, running back Josh Snead is also expected to be on campus. A three star prospect, Snead has already guided his team to a number of big victories with a couple of 300 plus total yard performances.

The fourth commit expected to be in the stands is High Point (N.C.) Andrews cornerback Quantrez Stevenson.

One of, if not the, most sought after recruit remaining on the 2010 recruiting board will also be on campus. Wadesboro (N.C.) Anson defensive tackle Tra Thomas has several schools chasing him including Duke, East Carolina, Michigan State, Clemson, and Appalachian State. All have offered. Thomas, a 6-2, 270 pounder with a reported 4.9 forty time, says he hopes to have a decision shortly after the 2010 season.

Several other 2010 prospects have also indicated that they will attend the game in hopes of earning a Duke offer.

Current Kent State ATH commitment Gabe Henderson (6'1, 180, 4.8) has been one of the state's most productive quarterbacks over the past two seasons for Southeast Raleigh High. Henderson brings a good amount of athleticism under center for Southeast and throws a very catchable ball. However, he lacks the kind of high major arm strength the bigger programs are looking for which is why he may project as an athlete at the next level. As a junior Henderson broke the school record for passing yards (2,301) and touchdowns (20) while completing 57 percent of his passes. In addition he ran for 600 yards and nine scores. One of Henderson's favorite targets, WR Terrance Branch will make the trip with him.

On the defensive side of the ball it's no secret that Duke is looking to land at least two more linemen. Enter Burlington (N.C.) Williams defensive tackle Jeff Lynch. At 6'1 and 280lbs, Lynch is rated as a two star prospect and the nation's No. 86 defensive tackle. He reports interest from Duke, UNC, NC State, and Wake Forest.

Local power program Durham (N.C.) Hillside will also be sending additional players to the game led by WR Brandon Watkins (5'11, 170, 4.6), LB Bryant Bell, and K Grant Wilson. The class of 2011 at Hillside is represented through LB Bryant Bell, DE Wesley Dowdy, and RB Jamall Wilson.

Creedmore (N.C.) South Granville fullback Josh Hurt will also be in the stands with teammate TE Clarence Peace. So will Greensboro (N.C.) Page linebacker Jonothan Spain.

Other names confirmed to attend include Midlothian (Va.) Cosby free safety Bryce Dillion; Sanford (N.C.) Southern Lee CB Jaymes Farrow & LB Darius Petty; Henderson (N.C.) Southern Vance QB James Harris; Southern Durham ATH Alonzo Hedgepath; Southern Lee's CB AJ Jackson; Angier (N.C.) Harnett County DT Anthony Johnson; Fayetteville (Ga.) Sandy Creek K/P Zach Lopez; and Southern Vance RB Tommy Warren.
